How do I add photos and videos to a Memory?

The photos of the day are sitting in your camera roll, and you want them next to the tickets. Open the Memory, tap +, and choose Media.

Step by step

1. Open the Memory and tap +.
2. Choose Media.
3. Tap Capture to shoot something now, or Existing media to use your library.
4. For Existing media, tap Choose from photos and pick one photo or video.
5. It becomes a card in the Memory straight away. Repeat to add another.

One photo can sit in a Memory once. Pick the same one twice and Lumoria says: “That one is already in this memory.”

Where they actually live

On your phone. In a Memory that’s yours alone, nothing is uploaded. Lumoria keeps a reference (a note of which item in your photo library to read) and loads the original from there each time you look. That’s why it asks for access to your photos the first time.

Anything you shoot with Capture is saved into your photo library first, then referenced the same way. It’s in Photos too, like any other shot.

What changes in a shared Memory

This is the one case where they leave the device, and Lumoria says so first: “Your photos and videos leave this device for the first time. They are encrypted with a key only members of this Memory will have.” Encrypted means scrambled, so a file can’t be read without the key. “Can I make an existing Memory collaborative?” walks through that switch.

Two things worth knowing

• Delete a photo from your photo library and its card in a solo Memory reads Not available. Lumoria never kept a second copy of it.
• A very large video can be left behind when a Memory becomes shared. Lumoria shrinks videos to fit first, and tells you what couldn’t be moved. Nothing is deleted from your library.
