Why am I not getting notifications?

Go to the Settings tab, tap Notifications, and turn on what you want to hear about. Every switch on that screen starts off, so a new account gets nothing at all until you turn one on. That is the answer most of the time.

1. The switches are still off

  1. Open the Settings tab, then Notifications.
  2. Find the one you’re missing. There are eight, in four groups.
  3. Turn its switch on.
  4. If iOS asks whether Lumoria may send you notifications, say yes.

Each switch covers one kind of event and nothing else. “Which notifications does Lumoria send?” lists all eight and what each one is for.

2. iOS is blocking them

Lumoria needs permission from iOS before anything can reach your lock screen. When it doesn’t have that permission, a banner sits at the top of the Notifications screen. There are two of them, and they mean different things.

  • “Turn on notifications”. iOS has never asked you, or you tapped Not now during the intro. Tap the banner and answer the prompt that appears.
  • “Notifications are off in system Settings”. Permission was refused. Tap the banner and Lumoria opens the right page of iOS Settings for you.

A switch that flips itself back off the moment you touch it is the same problem. iOS is blocking Lumoria, so the app won’t pretend the switch works. Fix the permission and it stays on.

3. That one Memory is muted

A Memory has notification settings of its own. Open it, tap ⋯, then Memory Settings → Notifications. Check that Notifications for this Memory is on, and that Mute this Memory reads Select rather than a length of time. “Can I mute a single Memory?” walks through that screen.

A Memory’s own settings can only make it quieter than the app-wide ones, never louder. If a category is off under Settings → Notifications, nothing on this screen brings it back.

4. Nothing has happened yet

Some of them are simply waiting for something to tell you about.

  • Shared memory activity waits until the other person stops adding, then sends one notification about half an hour later.
  • On this day needs a Memory you started a year ago to the day. Lumoria is young, so for most people that date hasn’t come round yet.
  • New templates only goes out when new ticket designs land.
