How do I rearrange what’s inside a Memory?

Ordering a Memory is a sort, not a drag. Open the Memory, tap ⋯, and choose Sort…. You pick the date the Moments line up by, and whether the oldest or the newest comes first.

Step by step

1. Open the Memory and tap ⋯ in the top bar.
2. Choose Sort….
3. Under Date, pick one: Ticket creation, Added to this Memory, or Event.
4. Choose Oldest first or Newest first.
5. Tap Done. Reset puts both back to the default, and the X leaves without changing anything.

Added to this Memory, oldest first, is where every Memory starts. Left alone, a Memory reads in the order you built it.

What the three dates mean

• Ticket creation: the day the ticket itself was made.
• Added to this Memory: the day it was put in here. A ticket made last year and added yesterday goes at the end.
• Event: the date printed on the ticket. The day of the flight, the gig, the film.

The other Moments follow as best they can. Under Event, a weather card sorts by the hour it describes and a voice memo by when it was recorded, so they land beside the day they belong to. Photos, videos and notes have one date only, when you added them, so they stay where they are whichever field you pick.

Dragging Moments into an order of your own isn’t available at the moment. The shape of the grid (which cards are one column wide and which run across two) is worked out by the app.

Two things the sort doesn’t do

It doesn’t appear in a shared Memory. Sort… is missing from the ⋯ menu there, and everyone sees the Moments in the same order. “Who can do what in a shared Memory?” has the rest of what changes.

And it doesn’t touch your gallery. The order belongs to this one Memory, and it’s saved with it, so it follows you to another phone. All tickets has a sort of its own with different options. See “How do I sort my tickets?”.
