What is a Memory, and do I need one?

A Memory is whatever you want kept together in one place: a holiday, a festival, an event, one afternoon, or a group of things that simply belong side by side. Tickets, photos, videos, music, notes, voice memos and moods all go inside. And no, you don’t need one.

A Ticket saves on its own and lives in All tickets whether or not it belongs to a Memory. A Memory is what you reach for when one stub isn’t the whole story.

What can go inside one?

• Tickets: the ones you’ve already made, or a new one started inside the Memory.
• Photos and videos from your library, plus anything you shoot with the in-app camera.
• Notes, for the parts no ticket records.
• Voice memos.
• Moods, logged as the days go by.
• Music, from your Apple Music library.
• The weather at one place and one hour. See “Can I save the weather of a day?”.

Each of those is a Moment. That’s the word Lumoria uses for one thing inside a Memory, and “What is a Moment?” goes further into it.

How do I make one?

1. Open the Memories tab and tap +.
2. Name it. “Barcelona, March” will find itself again later; “Trip” won’t.
3. Pick an emoji and a colour. They’re how you’ll recognise it in the grid.
4. Tap Create.

If you already have friends on Lumoria, one more step offers to invite them, so the Memory is shared from the start. With no friends added yet, that step doesn’t appear at all.

When is a Memory worth making?

When more than one thing belongs together. Four Tickets from the same festival, the photos you took and a voice memo of the crowd read as one thing inside a Memory. On their own, they are seven separate items. It doesn’t have to be a single occasion either. A Memory can gather a season of gigs, or a country you keep going back to.

Sharing changes none of that. A shared Memory is the same thing as a solo one. It holds the same Moments, and only who can see it is different. “How do I share a Memory with someone?” covers that side.

A free account keeps a limited number of Memories. “How many Memories can I have?” has the current numbers.
