What is my @username for?
Your @username is your name on Lumoria to everybody else. It’s what a friend searches for, what’s printed on your profile card, and the only thing a friend request shows about you before it’s accepted. It’s also a gate: you can’t add a friend or share a Memory without one.
Claiming one
Settings → Your account. Type into the Your username field and Lumoria checks as you go: it tells you whether the handle is free, and offers alternatives when it isn’t. You can also claim one the first time you tap + on the Friends tab: the same form comes to you as a sheet.
The rules
- 3 to 20 characters.
- Letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores. Nothing else.
- It has to start and end with a letter or a number.
- No two dots, dashes or underscores in a row.
- Some handles are reserved and can’t be taken.
Handles are unique, and capital letters don’t count: @Sam and @sam are the same name, so only one of them can exist.
Changing it
You can, once every 30 days. Try sooner and Lumoria says “You changed your username less than 30 days ago”. Your first claim doesn’t start the clock. Only a change does. And the handle you let go returns to the pool, so somebody else may take it.
Your @username can change. The 16-digit code on your profile card never does. That’s why a card you handed out last year still reaches you after a rename. See “What is the profile card?”.
How it differs from your display name
They are two different things, and both live under Settings → Your account. The display name is the one that greets you on the Memories tab and sits beside Moments you add in a shared Memory. It can be anything, it can repeat somebody else’s, and you can change it as often as you like. The @username is the identifier: unique, rationed, and the one people type.
